Storytelling, poetry and the Latin Grammy winner come to Super Saturday – The Tryon Daily Bulletin

Leland Faulkner will present “Walker Between Worlds” at Super Saturday 2022 on March 19. Faulkner is a member of the Bad River Band of Chippewa Indians in Odenah, Wisconsin. “Walker Between Worlds” is a harvest of Faulkner’s favorite traditional Aboriginal stories told from an original perspective. These traditional tales of wonder are full of entertaining lessons from Turtle Island and are a gift and heirloom for future generations. It is a celebration of the beauty and simplicity of human imagination and the power of community. Sessions are at 9:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. at the Tryon Congregational Church.

Allan Wolf will perform “Immersed In Verse: Poetry Palooza!” at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the Tryon Theatre. A two-time winner of the North Carolina Young Adult Book Award, as well as Bankstreet College’s prestigious Claudia Lewis Award for Poetry, Allan Wolf is the author of picture books, poetry, and novels for young adults. Booklist named his historical verse novel, The Watch That Ends the Night, one of the “50 Best Young Adult Books of All Time”. The award-winning poet and master presenter performs poetry from memory, blending theatre, music and audience participation. Attendees of this show will experience contemporary and classical poetry in a wide variety of styles and subject matter. Wolf will share poems from his many books, using music, juggling and fun audience participation.
